Subject: Parents ask for CUNY restorations
Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
My child attends The City University of New York. I ask you to restore the $63.6 million cut to CUNY senior colleges. In addition, there is an additional $20.8 million dollar cut related to proposed workforce actions needing union agreement. It appears that there is no contingency plan to meet this cut. These two cuts combined total a cut of $84.4 million which will result in increased class sizes, reduced student services and an inability to hire more full-time faculty.
I also ask you to restore funds to the Tuition Assistance Program currently recommended in the State budget. The Executive budget proposes a $75 decrease for all TAP students. This will affect 69,000 TAP students. Financial aid is an important factor in the affordability of higher education. Some of these cuts may make the difference in my child being able to attend college.
We must not sacrifice our children's education. They are the future of New York City and our state. Please support CUNY so that all New Yorker's can receive a quality education.
Sincerely,
|
