As a registered voter and employee at _______College, I am writing to seek your assistance in restoring $35.9 million in operating funding for The City University of New York's which was cut in the City's proposed budget and to support CUNY's critical maintenance capital fund needs. CUNY needs the restorations for operational support to the community colleges to fund critically needed full-time faculty positions, class sections, academic and student services, adequate library hours and critical maintenance. The University also needs $9.5 million in restorations of City aid to keep tuition affordable for thousands of deserving students who are served by the New York City Council Peter F. Vallone Scholarship. Since 1999, community colleges student enrollment has increased 43 percent. It is important that CUNY can continue to support the growing enrollment of individuals who are returning to school to improve their skills and reshape their careers during these challenging economic times. In addition, funding of CUNY's critical maintenance capital request will allow the University to meet the community colleges critical health and safety maintenance needs and upgrades, such as roofs, facades and science teaching labs. Our students are the future of New York City and our State. Please support CUNY. Thank you.
