Chancellor Goldstein's Letter to Congressional Leaders & the NY Congressional Delegation (click)

Congress is currently working on the Reauthorization of the Higher Education Act. It is important that this bill reflect the importance of higher education to our country's future and the financial realities faced by college students across the country. Currently, Congress is asking the House Education and Workforce Committee to save $13 billion dollars from higher education programs. $9 billion of which must come from student loan programs. College students will bear the pain of these reductions, which result in longer degree completion times and will put their financial futures at risk. At the very least, any savings should be reinvested into student aid programs, so that we can adequately plan for education's future.
